Contrastral Droplet

Contrastral Droplet is a satirical work inspired by two primary themes: Hollywood and Einstein. Touching on both the entertainment industry and astrophysics, this work associates the former by nodding to movie theater marketing tactics, such as 3D glasses and the neon lights that frame theater marquees, which exist to stimulate the senses through cheap visual tricks and dopamine hits. In contrast, the work also pays homage to three of the most poignant theories by one of the greatest minds of the 20th century: the perpetual motion of a space vortex, light theory and binary black holes. These discoveries, while providing a deeper understanding of some of the challenging existential questions, also explain the way physics help present our visceral world to us, only to have it used in a monetized manner.

As well, D.E.L. purposely intended Contrastral Droplet to mimic the aesthetic created by digital art, but with an organic treatment. In a sense, and without getting too esoteric, it is a parody of itself.
